Finding your iPhone or iPad UDID (Unique Device Identifier)
What is the UDID?
The UDID, or Unique Device Identifier, is a sequence of 40 characters that is specific to your device.
Why is the UDID required?
The UDID is required for Ad Hoc distributions, it allows your device to install beta versions of applications before they are available in the App store.
How to Find the UDID
You can find your UDID in iTunes and you can copy & paste it from there.
- Connect your device to iTunes.
- Locate your device in the left hand panel, select the ‘Summary’ tab. Here there will be information displayed about your device including name, capacity, software version.

- Click on the Serial Number to reveal the UDID. It should look something likeĀ e0ab1b677g43ch7e3a7r6e0c2a63t6b11eaa67f4

- Click Edit > Copy in the menu bar to copy the UDID to your clipboard.
- You can then paste the UDID into an email as you would any other block of text (using Edit > Paste).
